National Theatre Costume Workshops

A full refurbishment and upgrade of the costume workshop department at the National Theatre.

The existing 5th floor costume workshop department at the Grade II* listed National Theatre is undergoing a full refurbishment to meet modern compliance requirements and answer the needs of costume workshop users.

The refurbishment includes enhancements to the Wig, Hair and Make-up departments, the Dye Shop, and also include a new Costume Props production workshop and laundry space. The ambitions and aims are to reduce energy consumption wherever possible during the project. Thermal modelling exercises will be completed, and potential solar shading and passive cooling measures implemented.

Similar to all projects within the National Theatre, logistics and minimising operational disruption are the cornerstones of project success, and therefore close attention to detail is imperative.
