“We owe a debt of gratitude to Bristow who have helped create this sustainable and cultural change”

Rufus Norris,

Artistic Director - NT Future

The refurbishment of all front-of-house areas, including the foyers of both Lyttleton Theatre and Olivier Theatre.

The National Theatre created NT Future to respond to the transformation of South Bank, and its cemented position at the heart of London’s cultural scene. NT Future has aspirations of securing a sustainable tomorrow for one of Britain’s most prominent publicly funded performing arts venues.

We were engaged on the project during Phase C - the final phase of the extensive refurbishment project, in a range of capacities which included Cost, Procurement and Risk Management. Phase C comprised the refurbishment of all front-of-house areas, including the foyers of both Lyttleton Theatre and Olivier Theatre across six floors. Bars were redesigned, drawing inspiration from original materials but injecting a greater sense of vitality and a welcoming ambience into public areas. Historic carpets were replaced, while specialist joinery works, signage and concrete repair works were undertaken to enhance the final offering.

Work was completed while the building was fully operational; Lyttleton Theatre and Olivier Theatre each hosted performances daily during the construction process.
