Grange Park Opera

A 650-seat auditorium, classically designed as the ‘Theatre in the Woods’.

Grange Park Opera is located within the grounds of the Grade I listed manor house West Horsley Place, Surrey. The 5-tier, 650-seat auditorium is designed in a classic horseshoe form, taking inspiration from La Scala in Milan and the 18th Century preference for theatre presentation. The building appears as a cross-gartered brick drum amongst the trees, and was acknowledged by The Times Arts Awards as the “fastest construction of an opera house in history”.

A newly added portico creates a beautiful, sculpted gathering space for the audience to enjoy prior to entering the auditorium for a performance. We worked closely with the client, West Horsley Place, to manage the cost and execution of the project in line with the proposed budget and scheme intent.
